Erg Chegaga Desert Adventure
A remote Sahara escape: 4×4 tracks, the palm-filled Draa Valley and a night among the wild dunes of Erg Chegaga.
Overview
Escape Marrakech and journey deep into Morocco's wild Sahara on an unforgettable Erg Chegaga (Chigaga) desert adventure. The route crosses the spectacular High Atlas Mountains and continues through ancient kasbahs, the palm-filled Draa Valley, Zagora, Tamegroute and M'Hamid, the gateway to the open desert.
From M'Hamid, leave the paved roads behind and travel by 4×4 across desert tracks to the remote dunes of Erg Chegaga, around 60 km into the Sahara. Enjoy a camel ride at sunset, admire the immense golden dunes and spend the night in a traditional or luxury desert camp with a Moroccan dinner, Berber music around the fire and incredible stargazing.
From Marrakech, 3 days / 2 nights is possible, while 4 days / 3 nights gives a more comfortable itinerary with additional time for Aït Ben Haddou, the Draa Valley and the desert itself.
